What is Circling?
Circling is a surprisingly simple yet powerful way of authentic relating that deepens the relationship with ourselves and others through connection in the moment. As a practice it truly embodies the core values of authentic relating and as such it forms the core of most our workshops.
Circling is an inter-personal process – a group conversation, a meditation, a skill and an art form – designed to allow an experience of connection and understanding of another person’s world, creating the possibility of deeper understanding and compassion.
We practise this by connecting to each other within a circle, staying in the moment, stepping away from stories and expectations, and working with what is present, right here, right now. Describing the Circling process doesn’t quite capture the impact:
“I feel I know myself better and I feel I’ve realised the poetic beauty in every person. The Circling process has shown me that richness and the poetry in people. I’m just full of wonder and amazement and love” ~ Jayne, UK
A Circle is always facilitated by one or more an experienced facilitators, guarding the process and it’s core values (staying in the moment, not changing or fixing anything). We take great care in creating a safe environment for this process to unfold.
Circling is not therapy, although quite some healing can occur and is always welcomed.
It is not change work, even though quite some change and growth can come from this.
It is to simply connect to each other and explore what is happening in the moment.
So far, Circling is the best practice we have found for creating extraordinary and profound intimacy in relationships, giving access to a much larger relational bandwidth.
